THE VERVE

Not long after the band's super-hype-instant-fame album "Urban Hymns" was released, the band that was expected to be the one to match Oasis' fame in Britain's Pop Music scene broke up. They left millions of fans high & dry craving for a contionuity to their 'drugs don't work' & 'bitter sweet symphony' tracks.

After rumors that their guitarist was about to join Oasis in order to replace Oasis' Bonehead, a happier news arose. One of The Verve's personel was about to go solo.

Last year, 2001, saw Richard Ashcroft (Verve's lead vocal) released a debut solo album titled "Alone with Everybody". The album was an instant hit, its first single "A song for the Lover" became a club hit and so did the singles that follow. This just shows how much Britain's music lovers still appreciate what Ashcroft has done with the Verve as he was actually the song writer and perhaps the heart and soul of the band.

Richard Ashcroft is a true genius when it comes to writing music. The guy wrote Oasis' "Cast No Shadow" (info for those of you who weren't into brit music in the early 90s, this song was one of the hit songs that came out from the classic "Morning Glory" album). He also has the knack for arranging orchestra scores to fit into the britpop music that he plays.

Now that Richard Ashcroft's music has been accepted by the critical people of Britain, all that he needs to do is follow it up with another hit making album. One that could perhaps outlast "Urban Hymns"??
